My Thoughts On Free Software—To What Extent Should It Be Free?

As everyone who reads this blog, and my other blogs, should know, I use Linux. To me Windows is no more than a operating system hindered by Microsoft's monopoly. I get better software from Linux, for FREE! The same stuff I get for free, large companies are buying from Windows. What are their best arguments for not using open source software? The security?

People who don't want to touch OSS often are the ones know don't know a whole lot about computers or software in general. People and businesses have to understand that throwing money at everything doesn't make it safe. Knowledge is what keeps you the safest. Understand your software and understand why you use it.

Like a co-worker of mine said, "Big companies use so and so...but big companies are also stupid..."

Dismiss the myths of open source and embrace the facts.
